Poems I've written with my daughter

POETRY

Who Likes Rotten Cucumber?
Stone in a Welly.
Dinner Time
Dinner Time II
Science In The Kitchen
Slippery Slippery Slippery Goes The Snail
I set out on Holiday
Tickle Tickle

WHO LIKES ROTTEN CUCUMBER?

Who likes rotten cucumber,
With piles and piles of jelly,
Heaped and heaped on top of it,
And eaten while it’s smelly?

STONE IN A WELLY

I put my hand in my welly,
To pull out a bit of a stone,
I found a sheep, and a llama, and an old black telephone.
I found a lead weight and a telly, I couldn’t shift on my own,
So I called for the helpful firebrigade on the old black telephone.
The firemen came with their engine, they brought their ladders as well,
They all climbed down into my welly, but had to retreat from the smell.

DINNER TIME

Hand me the whatty, what what.
Pass me the thingummy jam.
Serve me the knees of whatever you please,
And give me some oohjaflip spam.

DINNER TIME II

Sit up properly,
Eat up your broccoli
It’ll make your ears go,
Green and Mr Spockily.

SCIENCE IN THE KITCHEN

When Mummy’s away,
When Mummy’s asleep.
Into the kitchen comes Daddy, creep, creep, creep.
He gets out some sausages, opens a tin of custard
Mixes them up to see if it’s just as good as mustard.
On the empirical method he places his reliance,
What’s an upset tummy in the cause of science.

SLIPPERY SLIPPERY GOES THE SNAIL

Slippery Slippery Slippery Goes The Snail
Slippery Slippery Slippery leaves a slimy trail
Slippery Slippery Slippery slowly as it can
What’s a snail? A slug with a caravan.

I WENT ON HOLIDAY

I went on holiday
Hoping for a sunny lollyday
But it rained so we only got a brollyday
Fell in a prickly bush and had a hollyday
Went and got the shopping with a wonky trolleyday.

TICKLE TICKLE

Tickle Tickle like a monkey
Swinging high up in a tree
Tickle Tickle, I’m a little
Cheeky Chimpanzee.

Tickle Tickle like a spider
In its web with flies for chews
Tickle Tickle, you can tickle
If you’ve got eight legs to use.

I don't think there's any reason why Morgan shouldn't aspire to be the poet laureate. Incidently I should thank LizzieB for her excellant misdefinitions elsewhere (and ask her to put down the axe now).

ok, I just love Stone in a Welly. I've been chanting it to myself for the last five minutes and will tell it to my niece and nephew when I see them tonight.

Science in the Kitchen is the one for me! Autobiographical at all?

Oh yes, I'm often found eating odd things when my wife's asleep.
